Ghost Train Haze is an iconic and mind-altering strain that has won a reputation as one of the highest potency strains on the market. With roots in Denver, Colorado, Ghost Train Haze has made its way to the West Coast and across the nation as a series of cuts, each with their own unique twist, but overall stimulating and citrus-infused characteristics.

Ghost Train Haze: A Sativa-Dominant Hybrid

Ghost Train Haze was originally bred by Denver master cannabis breeders, Rare Dankness Seeds. It was originally called Ghost Train Haze #1 and many dispensaries continue to sell it by this name, but, largely, the “#1” has been left behind.

Ghost Train Haze is a Sativa-dominant hybrid strain cross between Ghost’s OG and Nevil’s Wreck. Nevil’s Wreck is a cross between E32 Acarta Trainwreck and Neville’s Haze F3 BX2. Rare Dankness Seeds provides different clone varieties (1,2,5,8, and 9) crossed with Nevil’s Wreck.

The origins of the strain date back about a decade. Rare Dankness Seeds collected the clone from the Devil’s Harvest Krew, the legendary cannabis seed bank. Currently, Rare Dankness has various Ghost Train Haze cuts, each with minor differences in aroma and effects.

Energizing and Cerebral Effects

My stash of Ghost Train Haze lived up to its reputation. I loaded my Pax vaporizer to the brim with this pungent Sativa hybrid. Sometimes I pack a couple of loads in the Pax, but the single serving, so to speak, of Ghost Train Haze was invigorating and mood-boosting enough.

I was sharing with a friend and we both felt decently high after that first Pax session. Ghost Train Haze stood up, potency wise, to the effects of my often-used pre-filled vape cartridges. For me, the effects were mainly cerebral. GTH really brightened the music I was listening to.

Citrus, Spice, and Everything Nice

Ghost Train Haze is known for its complex and pleasant aromas. My specific strain had a mild hint of skunky undertones with a touch of citrus, spice, pine, and earthy aromas. Some users have even reported smelling floral scents and tasting a tangy aftertaste. Ghost Train Haze’s most commonly found terpenes include:

  • Beta-caryophyllene
  • Alpha-humulene
  • Terpinolene
  • Alpha-pinene
  • Linalool
  • Beta-myrcene

Frosty and Green

My Ghost Train Haze was a bit on the dry side, but still had a thin blanket of trichomes throughout. Ghost Train Haze has vivid green colors with the smattering of brownish-colored hairs. My buds were small, but dense and slightly sticky when broken apart.

World-Recognized Potency

Ghost Train Haze has won countless awards for its chemical profile and potency. Even small doses can get an experienced smoker decently lit. This sativa-leaning hybrid won the 2014 High Times Cannabis Cup US Sativa 1st place prize and the 2013 High Times Cannabis Cup Medical Sative 2nd place spot.

New users should consume minute amounts of Ghost Train Haze just to be safe and build up to their desired tolerance. Check the THC levels beforehand to determine its potency. Ghost Train Haze’s THC levels frequently reach 25% and above.

I’ve always been a fan of Sativas, but I also love a good Indica sometimes. Ghost Train Haze is an ideal mix of both genetics. Ghost Train Haze is ideal for microdosing due to its higher-than-average THC content. In moderate doses, it can be the perfect social lubricant, just make sure you don’t overconsume.
